1st. May, Sunday. This is called the rainy season and it lasts untill July.
2nd. Rained all night but none in the day.
3rd. Looking out with Mr S's spy glass (a most excellent one) to see if his brother was coming
in at the Bogues mouth.
4th. Looked out again and about 11 a.m. I saw the vessel making towards us, in a few hours after
she anchored at Guana key, when both the Capt. and his brother, came up to pay their respects to my Father,
the Capt. received my Father very kindly and we all descended and had a very good dinner.
5th May. Went on board Capt S.'s sloop Isabel which was built by his brother, our worthy host, on
this island.
6th. Rode on horseback with Mr. S. drank my Mother's health.
7th. On board the Isobel with my Father; rode up the hill to our cottage of retreat.
8th. Sunday Went over to the main land, with the Capt. to see his plantations, this is the first
time I ever put my foot on Central America, I had some bananas and sugar cane given to me.
9th. Rain, thunder and lightning all night.
10th. Capt. about to sail tomorrow, received from him 3 regatta shirts,
3 pocket hands and measured for some jackets and trousers.
11th. My Father busy
writing letters, after dinner the vessel weighed
anchor and made for Bocatoro.
